Verbal Magazine

WELCOME

Verbal FM is part of a Heritage Lottery Funded project called Heritage Radio North West. It works in partnership with local community festivals in the North West of Ireland, making radio shows about the festival themes. So, it's a local festival radio service broadcasting to a global audience.

You can get involved in Verbal FM - it's a media resource for the local community. If you're interested in reporting, producing or editing shows for Verbal FM, get in touch and become part of the team.

This year’s exhibition for International Women’s Day 2009, entitled ‘Women’s Real Lives’, showcases various creative art pieces by individuals, artists and groups of women from the Derry City Council area and beyond. Creative art pieces are on display at the Tower Museum, the Women’s Centre, Eden Place Arts Centre and the Verbal Arts Centre throughout March.

Foyle Film Festival

The theme of the 21st Foyle Film Festival is ‘Cinema Close-up’ and reflects the tone of many of the films in the 2008 programme. All the movies screening in this year’s festival give fascinating glimpses into extraordinary stories – real and fictional - while the workshops and presentations take the audience on a unique journey inside the world of filmmaking.

Halloween Carnival

Nowhere else does Hallowe'en quite like Derry/Londonderry. Now in its 25th year, the Banks of the Foyle Hallowe'en Carnival attracts tens of thousands of people to the city annually to take part in the biggest street festival in the land.

Gasyard Feile

The first Gasyard Féile was a very successful one-day event, staged in 1993 by the Bogside and Brandywell Development Association (BBDA).  Fifteen years on, it has expanded into an annual week-long festival of arts, cultural and community organised activity.

MAIDEN

The Maiden City Festival is a celebration of the diversity in Ulster and genuinely promotes the Maiden City.  It’s a tribute to the Apprentice Boys of Derry and to the communities of the city who support the event.
