The identity of a city is developed through the sharing of stories, specific to the area, that are continuously retold and reshaped; not necessarily mythological tales but anecdotes, urban myths, famous characters and memorable incidents. These stories provide a database of knowledge within which the city's identity resides.

Newcomers to the city must be given the opportunity to hear these stories in order to understand the social tapestry. But equally, they must be allowed to share the stories of their own culture in order to be understood by the other citizens thereby promoting social inclusion.

The Verbal FM site is a tool to facilitate this process. It is an online forum celebrating the varied and dynamic cultures and traditions that live side by side in our city.
